We met this man at our Pondamail clinic in March. He had been bashed by thugs more than 2 years ago and had his arm was broken in the attack. The fracture had not healed as he could not afford the medical care. The arm was still moving at the break and he was in ongoing pain.
This man made our team realise that the work of Kenya Health needed to expand and start to provide surgical services for patient like this. We used and paid for the services of a local orthopaedic surgeon who plated the fracture and this man is now leading a normal life. When we went back to Pondamali in June he was the first to volunteer to help us erect our tent and he was making full use of his arm and was extremely thankful.
