Our very last clinic for 2014 was on Sunday 14th September was at The Nakuru Women’s Prison. We saw 124 patients. Many of the mothers who are in prison are allowed to keep their children with them until they turn 4 years of age. Twelve of these little ones were among the number of patients we gave treatment to. The two hundred inmates are made up of both convicted prisoners and a large number of ladies on remand awaiting trial and or sentence. We not only looked after their medical needs but also took 200 bananas and 200 oranges for them to enjoy as fresh fruit is a treat. All the ladies were pleased to see us and very grateful that Kenya Health includes the women’s prison on our clinic roster every six months.
